STUDY AND CONSERVATION OF THE BRONZE ARTIFACTS FROM NOWY KRAMSK

We are delighted to announce that on 23 May 2018, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage decided to award the Archaeological Museum of the Middle Odra a grant of PLN 92,000 for the project ‘Study and conservation of the bronze artefact hoard from Nowe Kramsko’, as part of the “Protection of Archaeological Monuments” programme.
The project was also supported by the City of Zielona Góra, which provided the necessary own contribution for its implementation.
The bronze hoard from Nowe Kramsko arrived at our Museum in 2015; since then, we have been seeking funding for its conservation and cataloguing. The hoard consists of 330 items, totalling approximately 14 kg of bronze artefacts. Its inventory includes unique bronze casting moulds. The project involves the conservation of the hoard, its comprehensive study and the presentation of the research findings in the form of a publication. All necessary metallurgical analyses will be carried out by the project partner – the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Faculty of Foundry Engineering, Centre for Historical Deposits Research. We plan to conduct geomagnetic and underwater surveys at the site of the discovery. The project will be carried out in 2018–2019.
