VISITING RULES FOR THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF THE MIDDLE ELBE REGION

IN ZIELONA GÓRA, BASED IN ŚWIDNICA

1. General provisions

  • These museum visiting regulations (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”) set out the rules for visiting the Central Odra Valley Archaeological Museum in Zielona Góra, based in Świdnica, located at 27 Długa Street, 66-008 Świdnica (hereinafter referred to as the “Museum”).
  • The Museum is open to visitors during the autumn–winter season (October–April) from Wednesday to Friday between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. During the summer holiday season (May–September), the Museum is open from Wednesday to Friday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, on Saturdays from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, and on Sundays from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
  • The Museum reserves the right to close the exhibition on certain public holidays and other days designated by the Museum Director.
  • Detailed information regarding opening days and times is available at www.muzeum-swidnica.org and at the Museum’s premises.
  • The number of visitors permitted in the main exhibition and the temporary exhibition (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Museum’s exhibitions’) at any one time is limited for safety reasons. Consequently, admission to the exhibition may be temporarily suspended.
  • The Museum’s exhibitions must be used for their intended purpose.
  • Visitors must follow the instructions and recommendations of Museum staff whilst visiting.
  • Littering is prohibited in the Museum exhibitions, and visitors must not touch the exhibits unless the information provided in the exhibit description states otherwise.
  • The use of flash photography is prohibited in the Museum exhibitions.
  • Last admission to the exhibitions is 40 minutes before the Museum closes.

2. Ticket sales and bookings

  • Visits to the Museum’s exhibitions and participation in selected events offered as part of the Museum’s programme are subject to a charge.
  • The fees are set out in the price list available on the website www.muzeum-swidnica.org and at the Museum’s premises.
  • As part of its programme, the Museum also organises free events. Information about these events is available on the website www.muzeum-swidnica.org.
  • Tickets for events and exhibitions may be purchased subject to availability.
  • Tickets are sold until the limit set by fire safety regulations is reached, defined as the maximum number of people permitted to be present at any one time within the main exhibition or a temporary exhibition.
  • Visits to exhibitions by organised groups and participation in museum lessons and workshops organised by the museum are possible following prior booking in person, by email (muzeum@muzeum-swidnica.org) or by telephone (683273113). Bookings must be confirmed at least 2 working days before the date of the workshop or exhibition visit. If planning to visit the exhibition at weekends, on public holidays or on days immediately before or after public holidays, bookings must be made at least 2 weeks before the planned date of the visit.
  • The following are eligible for a concessionary ticket to visit the exhibition:
  • pupils of primary and secondary schools, students and doctoral candidates,
  • pensioners, disability pensioners, as well as disabled persons and persons with disabilities accompanied by a carer – who is a Polish citizen,
  • teachers at primary and secondary schools, and educators at care and educational, educational and rehabilitation institutions operating in Poland,
  • persons awarded the ‘For the Care of Monuments’ or ‘Distinguished Cultural Activist’ honours,
  • holders of the Large Family Card, the Harmonious Family Card and the Harmonious Zielona Góra Residents 50+ Card.
    • pupils at primary and secondary schools, undergraduates and doctoral students,
    • pensioners, disability pensioners, as well as disabled persons and persons with disabilities accompanied by a carer – who is a Polish citizen,
    • teachers at primary and secondary schools, and educators at care and educational, educational and rehabilitation, and social rehabilitation institutions operating in Poland,
    • persons awarded the ‘For the Care of Monuments’ or ‘Distinguished Cultural Activist’ honours,
    • holders of the Large Family Card, the Harmonious Family Card and the Harmonious Zielona Góra Residents 50+ Card.
  • Free admission to the exhibitions is available to:
    • persons awarded the Order of the White Eagle or the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the honorary badge ‘For Merit to Polish Culture’, and persons who have been awarded the honorary title ‘For Merit to National Culture’,
    • staff of museums entered in the State Register of Museums,
    • members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS),
    • children under the age of seven.
  • Concessionary or free admission to the Museum’s exhibitions is available upon presentation of the relevant documentation.
  • Visits to the exhibitions using a group ticket are available to organised groups of 10 or more people.
  • Visits to exhibitions by organised groups are only possible with a guide. Due to the size of the exhibition rooms, a single group may consist of a maximum of 25 people. For larger groups, a further guide service must be booked.
  • Guided tours of the exhibitions are subject to a fee. Guided tours are conducted exclusively in Polish.
  • On Fridays, admission to the main exhibition and temporary exhibitions is free of charge. Free admission applies only to visitors viewing the exhibition individually.
  • The ticket office accepts payment only in cash and by card in the local currency (PLN).

3. Rules for visitors at the Museum

  • All visitors to the Museum are required to comply with the following safety rules and follow the instructions of staff.
  • Whilst on the museum premises, please behave in accordance with the accepted standards of good manners.
  • The following is prohibited:
    • entering areas other than those designated for participants in events organised at the Museum,
    • eating and drinking, except in designated areas,
    • consuming alcoholic beverages,
    • smoking tobacco products and e-cigarettes,
    • running and sliding on floors, sloping and steep surfaces, bringing bicycles, scooters, skateboards and other similar vehicles onto the Museum premises, and riding them on the Museum premises,
    • climbing onto platforms, safety barriers and reinforcements, or leaning over barriers and safety features,
    • pushing and shoving, running, sliding on the floors, behaving noisily, disturbing other visitors, or creating a hazardous situation,
    • throwing any objects,
    • photographing or filming the exhibition interiors using a flash,
    • photographing or filming the Museum’s security systems,
    • bringing firearms, explosives or other items hazardous to health and life onto the Museum premises,
    • bringing alcohol or intoxicating substances onto the premises,
    • removing Museum equipment from the premises,
    • damaging any Museum equipment,
    • bringing luggage, rucksacks and dangerous items into the exhibition areas. The Museum staff shall determine whether an item is dangerous,
    • conducting commercial or advertising activities, or engaging in political campaigning.
  • Rucksacks, bags, suitcases, umbrellas and coats must be left in the Museum lobby in the designated area. The Museum accepts no responsibility for items left in the lobby.
  • Guardians are responsible for any damage caused by children in their care.
  • Children under the age of 12 may only enter the Museum when accompanied by an adult.
  • School groups comprising pupils under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a teacher or supervisor.
  • The guide and/or supervisor of an organised group is responsible for the behaviour of the people in their charge.
  • The following persons will not be admitted to the Museum:
  • carrying dangerous objects or materials,
  • under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or psychoactive substances,
  • whose attire contains elements that are offensive to others on the grounds of faith, religion, skin colour, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or political beliefs.
    • bringing in dangerous objects or materials,

  • The Museum reserves the right to restrict visitors’ access to any part of the Museum. Where possible, visitors will be informed of any access restrictions in such a way that they can be made aware of them before purchasing a ticket.
  • The Museum reserves the right to remove from display any exhibits that have malfunctioned, been damaged or destroyed.
  • The removal of some exhibits does not constitute grounds for a full or partial refund of the ticket price.
  • Any malfunctions, damage or destruction of equipment in the Museum must be reported immediately to Museum staff.
  • Visitors may view the museum exhibition accompanied by pets. Animals brought into the Museum must remain under the supervision of their owners/carers at all times and must be kept on a lead. The dog’s owner/carer must carry a certificate showing a valid rabies vaccination. The owner/carer assumes full responsibility for the animal whilst on the Museum premises.

4. Final provisions

  • The Terms and Conditions are available on the website www.muzeum-swidnica.org and at the Museum’s premises.
  • The purchase of a ticket to the Museum constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Visitors to the exhibitions are required to familiarise themselves with the Terms and Conditions and to comply with their provisions.
  • The purchase of a ticket constitutes consent to the Museum’s irrevocable and royalty-free right to use photographs depicting the visitor on multiple occasions. This consent covers: with regard to the recording and reproduction of photographs – the production of copies of photographs using a specific technique, including printing and digital techniques; with regard to the distribution of the original or copies on which the image has been recorded – the placing on the market, lending or hiring out of the original or copies; making the photographs available in such a way that anyone may access them at a place and time of their choosing, in particular on the Internet and the Museum’s social media platforms. The above scope of exploitation covers the use of photographs depicting visitors solely for informational and promotional purposes and for the Museum’s archival needs. The above provision also applies to persons present on the Museum premises on the basis of a document entitling them to free admission to exhibitions and within the framework of events, workshops and museum lessons organised by the Museum.
  • Failure by visitors to comply with these Regulations constitutes grounds for the visitor to be asked to leave the Museum premises.
  • Comments, complaints and requests regarding the Museum’s activities, its programme of events and the service provided to visitors and service users may be submitted at the Museum’s premises.
  • Invoices will be issued in accordance with applicable regulations to individuals, institutions and business entities.
